What the developer officially confirms

The Steam Demo description lists Challenge Mode as a replay feature and says it becomes available after you complete the demo normally. The demo also includes the first two full levels and a short transition level.

That is the reliable public baseline. Detailed claims about every added trap or changed checkpoint should be checked against the current in-game description because the public store copy does not enumerate them.

Prepare during the normal run

Use the normal run to learn where the game establishes expectations: safe-looking routes, objects that react to proximity, and moments where continuing forward immediately is punished.

You do not need to memorize every animation. Remember the trigger and the safe response: stop, retreat, wait, or approach at a different pace.

Choose the right demo build

The developer notes that the Steam demo may be a little more up to date than the itch.io build. Features can therefore differ slightly between public builds.

Avoid outdated challenge lists

Trees Hate You has changed through demo updates, including checkpoints, another level, additional traps, and character creation. A detailed list written for an earlier build can mix old behavior with the current version.
